Malo le soifua maua Siemu! Great to hear from you again bruddah. Long time no hear...haha Sole I'm also excited to hear that you've returned to the music field. You were popular in our college days as a pianist and it's time to renew that gift from God. Thanks Siemu for your respect even though we're close friends. Many have recorded and arranged my music without my consent. I know one of my palagi professor friends living in Long Beach who had slapped a couple of Samoan church choirs for using his music without permission. Coming up with an excuse "I'm not familiar with copyright law" is unacceptable before the court and very expensive. Our Samoan faipese should be aware of this and must always acknowledge the composer who wrote the words and music.
Go ahead Siemu - you may arrange my music and don't forget to send me a CD of your choir.
Alofa tele atu,
your friend always, namu

Paul, (Namu) faafetai ua maua e lau afioga la'u message. It's really a thrill to find you after a couple of years, man. I'm back to music now, helping a little church here for their Sunday songs, etc. We started a Music Festival here last Dec. 2009 (Xmas), with about 7 LMS Church choirs, including the Mormon Church choir, Anaheim Ward. I am the chairman of this group. We want to grow from religious music to Culture, dances and songs of the Pacific & the world. Our second festival was last Easter and our next one is August 8th. O lau tusi pese "O le Pese Fou i le Alii" (the one I bought & you autographed) I am using that now. I tell you man you did a fantastic job! Wow!! Anyway, I need your permission because my choir is not that big, not that music oriented, you know what I mean; I need to simplify some of your great hard work to suit their need & style. Tusa lava pe ta te masani lelei from school and so forth, but I have to go thru' the appropriate and the legal way, for I have great respect for your marvellous compositions. Just your permission to make your songs easier for my choir. (e.g) "Ia Outou Vivii i le Alii" #415. The other song "Le Atua e, Sisila Alofa Mai" #313 Pese ma Viiga i le Atua, (black song book), I'm trying to use some English words, for these palagi people.
O si a'u talosaga vaivai lena i lau afioga. (I feel more comfortable if I call you Paul) Alofa atu, manuia lau galuega iina, faafualoa lou soifua e le Atua, ia viia pea lona Suafa i au galuega lelei mo fanau a Samoa a e maise o le atunuu pele. Tofa.

Talofa Dan,
It's a pleasure to hear from you. Great to hear about the works of your dear parents.
I'm very busy at this time with my work at the College but I would love to compose a special for this historical event.
I believe there's enough time after instruction in May and I'm planning to visit LA in the summer. I can write the song there and then send it to you.
So we'll keep in touch.
Alofa tele atu to you and your dear parents,
God bless,
paul

Hello Paul,
I wanted to first of all introduce myself, Danny Tuisa'ula, son of the Rev. Mose and Luisa Tuisa'ula (Mangere, Auckland, N.Z.) and have been living in the US for over 25 yrs now. I wanted to say that you have embodied all that is not only Godly and good in our family, but inspirational as well. As a cousin who has known of your musical genius over the years, I wanted to say that the apple does not fall far from the tree with the families gift of music and Christian life values.
You may not remember me, but we had met briefly in L.A. many years ago prior to me moving away to live in the Midwest. My request to you is not only a personal one, but a business request that if you are able to accommodate, would be a blessing beyond belief. Our Family Church, CCJS in Mangere, Auckland is now in the process of building a new Church after many, many years of fund-raising and hard work. I am looking for an inspirational musical hymn to be composed for the Church Choir that will be sung at their opening ceremony scheduled around the end of August or beginning of September.
Please let me know if this is something you would be able to do? I know that you have a very busy schedule and appreciate anything that you can do, so please feel free and contact me.
Sincerely through Gods Love and Blessings,
Danny

Hi Dr Paul,
Sorry its been so long since I've written, hope you don't think since receiving your Hymn book I've not made any contact but the Ministry is very much alive and well with Gods help indeed.
I guess the main reason for my email was to seek your advice/guidance.
I am planning to move to Hawaii/US where by family reside and would like to pursue music studies, I've studied organ and piano through Yahama and Technics Music Academy in New Zealand. In High School completed School Certificate and Bursary Music (University Entrance). Have not completed any Tertiary Studies..this is what I am now planning to do now....any advice or information would be of great appreciation indeed of where I should go....I'd really like to specialise in Composition, piano and performance with vocal? Main interests are Composition and Performance (piano/vocal).
My late Mother was the reason I pursued music from a young age, putting me through music as I could not play sport due to health problems...and her last words to me was to make sure I continue my Music to serve God and to live my dreams....so this I am going to do.
I would be more than happy to make contact by phone if that is more convenient, or by email as I understand how busy you are.
Manuia tele.
Alofaaga.
Amisone.
PS: I continue to teach your hymns with my Choirs...your talents are inspiring as with your family too....God Bless.

'Sanctus' is one of the movements from John Rutter's Requiem. The 'Requiem' was performed for my Doctoral Recital (University of Southern California, Los Angeles) by the United Samoan Church Choir and Orchestra in Carson, CA.
Sorry there's a break (8 seconds) in the middle of the recording - accidentally pressed the recording button. I'll download a good one when I find the DVD.
Elder Dr. Elia Ta'ase, pastor of the United Samoan Church, was the Moderator. The Choir and church members are in my heart forever. Feilloai pea i luma o le Atua i talosaga. Alofa tele atu!
